Coro e Orchestra Ghislieri is an Italian vocal and instrumental ensemble specialized in italian sacred repertoire of the eighteenth century. Founded in 2003 by its conductor, Giulio Prandi, Coro e Orchestra Ghislieri is in residence at the historic Fondazione Ghislieri in Pavia, where its artistic development is accompanied by a constant research activity. Since 2017, the research is supported by a Scientific Committee established in partnership with the Musicology and Cultural Heritage Department of the University of Pavia.   Coro e Orchestra Ghislieri have performed in prestigious European concert halls and at major international festivals including George Enescu Festival - Bucharest, Auditorium Orchestre National de Lyon, Arsenal - Metz, Ambronay, Besançon and La Chaise-Dieu Festivals, Rouen Opera, Royaumont Foundation, De Singel – Antwerp, AMUZ - Antwerp, MAfestival - Bruges, MITO Settembre Musica, Stresa Festival, Festival Monteverdi - Cremona and Festival Pergolesi-Spontini - Jesi.   In 2018, Coro e Orchestra Ghislieri celebrated its 15th anniversary debuting at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, in January, and at the Berliner Philharmonie, in November, hosted by the Berliner Philharmoniker. Highlights of 2019 and 2020 iclude concerts in Italy, Malta (Valletta International Baroque Festival), France (closing concerts of Ambronay Festival 40th edition), Belgium (De Bijloke Muziekcentrum – Gent, BOZAR Music – Brussels in the Grand-Vocal series), Netherlands (Oude Muziek Utrecht, Giulio Prandi Artist in residence of the 2019 edition), Germany (Internationale Händel-Festspiele Göttingen, Tage Alter Musik in Herne) and Poland (Wratislavia Cantans – Wrocław), and will perform its third concert at Concertgebouw Amsterdam for NTR ZaterdagMatinee.   After the debut album for Amadeus, Coro e Orchestra Ghislieri produced a series of CDs for Sony – Deutsche Harmonia Mundi devoted to the composers most representative of their constant historical repertoire research: Baldassarre Galuppi, Niccolò Jommelli, Davide Perez, and a live recording dedicated to Händel's Roman works, including the famous Dixit Dominus. In 2018, a new album devoted to Pergolesi has been published for Arcana – Outhere Music, with the rare Mass in D Major and the hitherto unrecorded Mottettone Dignas laudes resonemus, awarded with the Diapason Découverte. In 2019 the ensemble will record a new CD for Arcana – Outhere Music dedicated to Jommelli’s Requiem with Sandrine Piau.   The ensemble’s concerts have been broadcast by RAI – Radio 3, Culturebox – France Télévisions, Avro Klassiek, Radio Klara, France Musique, RTBF Musiq'3, Norddeutsche Rundfunk, NPO Radio 4.

Animato dalla passione per il repertorio vocale e sacro italiano del XVIII secolo, Giulio Prandi ha fondato nel 2003 Coro e Orchestra Ghislieri, che dirige regolarmente nelle maggiori sale da concerto europee (Philharmonie Berlin, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, BOZAR Bruxelles) e in prestigiosi Festival internazionali (Festival d’Ambronay, Besançon e Chaise-Dieu, Oude Muziek Utrecht, MaFestival Bruges, Festival Enescu di Bucarest, Internationale Händel-Festspiele Göttingen, Festival Monteverdi di Cremona, Mito Settembremusica, Wratislavia Cantans e molti altri). Nel 2019 è Artista in residenza del Festival Oude Muziek di Utrecht, dedicato quest’anno al repertorio napoletano. È direttore artistico del Centro di Musica Antica della Fondazione Ghislieri di Pavia, insignito del Premio Abbiati della critica italiana quale "miglior iniziativa musicale del 2018". Svolge una costante attività di ricerca, che negli anni lo ha portato alla riscoperta di numerose opere rare o inedite di autori quali Galuppi, Jommelli, Perez, Perti, Durante, Astorga, Leo. Si dedica inoltre con continuità alle grandi opere sacre di Vivaldi, Pergolesi, Händel, Johann Michael Haydn e Mozart. Incide per Arcana – Outhere Music, con la quale ha pubblicato nel 2018 un volume dedicato a due inediti Pergolesiani, la Messa in re maggiore e il Mottettone Dignas Laudes. La prossima uscita, prevista nel 2020, è dedicata al Requiem di Niccolò Jommelli. Ha realizzato una serie di dischi per Sony – Deutsche Harmonia Mundi nella quale ha potuto proporre i frutti delle sue ricerche su Baldassarre Galuppi, Niccolò Jommelli e Davide Perez, oltre a un volume live dedicato alla produzione romana di Händel. Ha pubblicato inoltre tre dischi dedicati a Perti, Jommelli e Händel (Dixit Dominus e Messiah) sulla rivista italiana Amadeus, che nel 2017 gli ha dedicato il numero celebrativo del 25° anniversario. Giulio Prandi si è diplomato in Direzione d’orchestra sotto la guida di Donato Renzetti, dopo aver studiato Composizione con Bruno Zanolini e Musica Corale e Direzione di coro con Domenico Zingaro al Conservatorio “G. Verdi” di Milano. È inoltre diplomato in Canto e laureato in Matematica. Tiene regolarmente masterclass e workshop sul repertorio sacro italiano del XVIII secolo ed è invitato a prendere parte alle giurie di importanti concorsi internazionali. Si dedica con passione alla divulgazione della musica e all’insegnamento. È docente di Formazione Corale presso l’ISSM F. Vittadini di Pavia; dal 2018 tiene il Laboratorio di Polifonia Sacra al Conservatorio “G. Verdi” di Milano.
